Welcome!
I am humbled and grateful you are checking out my publications schedule.
Many will say I’m going about this all wrong. But I have always lived life like a woman Jane Friedman recently wrote about named Martha. Martha did a big no-no in the publishing industry. She cold-called agents she was interested in representing her writing.
Martha recognized the urgency of each day and its ever-increasing importance. You see, she was nearly 70 by the time her first work was published. While I’m not near that age, I’m closer than not.
Life is fleeting
The odds of getting published as a young person are higher due. Publishers can gamble on how many more books they might get out of a writer over time.
The older we grow, for numerous reasons, unless there are many stacks of pages in that proverbial “drawer,” the odds must be less likely.
So every day. Live. Write. Share.
As writers, God blessed us with the ability to turn blank pages into art in the form of words. Do you also ever feel the love of writing is a blessing and a curse?
I apologize to the significant others who at one time or another held a special place in my heart. Moreso, I apologize to my daughters, former step-daughter, and four former step-sons. Friends. Family.
If you wanted me present for an event and my mind was somewhere miles away, I apologize. My brain works that way; always has.
Kind of like how my Great Pyrenees Maycee will get up to check out a newcomer, but within a few minutes returns to her observation spot to keep an eye on her flocks of people and property.
This is the center of my newsletter universe. I am responsible for the following:
Free-level publishes every Tuesday
TUESDAY—Full-Frontal Nudity of the Soul™ for Writers—Calling all writers! We will explore writing so emotional, your soul lies bared by words, naked for the world to read.
There also are adaptations of the Hero’s Journey circulating. Do they add the needed structure to make your novel work?
Let’s talk!
DonaldJClaxton.com theme posts publish Mondays
MONDAY—Weekly theme posts on DonaldJClaxton.com and across all of my platforms.
All of this, Substack, Medium.com, YouTube, and DonaldJClaxton.com are the result of more than ten months of learning the best ways not to merge two legacy websites into one. Yes, your read that correctly. Lord help me, I’ve also played the shell game known as search engine optimization free tools.
Returning to offerings based on previous experience, I also include professional communication services for business, school districts, social media, political, and issues campaigns.
Free-level publishes every Wednesday
WEDNESDAY—The Voodoo Hill Explorer Club™ for Adventurers—This is my online adventure club! The space also serves as a prequel to my first novel, which is heading into the latest revision and polish sessions!
Fellow adventurers, we talk survival skills, bushcraft, and the coolest treehouses for kids (of all ages). Topics also include the best adventure gear and gadgets, and adventurous locations. As noted above, this newsletter’s free version publishes on first, third, and/or fifth Wednesdays.
MY WORK IN PROGRESS, The Voodoo Hill Explorer Club, is about four boys who build a treehouse in the woods just off their Upper Peninsula of Michigan’s Air Force Base. The twist? The treehouse is 140 yards away from a Soviet spy’s secret hideaway.
This newsletter is fun, interactive, and features one of my favorite life topics—the beauty of the woods of Michigan’s UP.
